The 28NR Joist Repair Notch Reinforcer by Metwood Building Solutions is a great way to solve coding issues because without a joist reinforcer holes are only allowed in the center 1/3rd of a joist with no notches, holes in the outer 1/3rd’s of the joist span must be at least 2″ apart, the hole diameter cannot exceed 1/3rd of the depth of the joist, and finally, the hole for any utility can be no closer than 2″ from the joist edge.
